Transportation

Location

Thursday and Friday sessions are at the Courtyard by Marriott, 620 Caroline St., Fredericksburg VA 221401. Saturday sessions are at the University of Mary Washington, Monroe Hall. For those without cars, a trolley will provide transportation on Saturday. (Alternately, the walk to campus is a pleasant though very hilly 25 minutes.)

Driving Directions

Fredericksburg is located an hour south of Washington, D.C., and an hour north of Richmond, VA. From I-95, take exit 133A – Route 3 East. Turn left on William St. Turn right on Princess Anne St. Turn left on Charlotte St. Hotel is on right.

Airports

Fredericksburg is within driving distance of four major airports. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is an hour north, Richmond International Airport (RIC) 1:15 south, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) 1:30 northwest, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) 2:00 north. Rush hour traffic can double or triple driving times to the north. Advance reservations for rental cars are recommended.

Airport taxis from DCA or RIC to Fredericksburg run $100-$175 each way. Options include Chop Chop Shuttle (703-441-9999), Airport Taxi (540-720-3005), Yellow Cab Of Fredericksburg (540-371-8294), Yellow Top / Airport Taxi (540-394-8294), Freddy Go2 Dulles/Richmond Airports LLC (571-356-0025), and others. Advance reservations are required.

Airport-to-rail service requires a bus or taxi connection except at Reagan National Airport (DCA): catch the Metro to Alexandria (about $3, departs every 10 minutes, takes 7 minutes), then take Amtrak to Fredericksburg (about $25,  departs five times a day, takes about an hour). Rail

Fredericksburg is served by Amtrak and (during commuter hours only) by Virginia Railway Express. Tickets must be purchased on the platform before boarding trains. The train station is three blocks from the conference hotel.

Bus

Fredericksburg is served by Greyhound. Local taxis are usually available across from the depot.

Local Transportation

The fastest way to get around town is by taxi.

Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FRED) buses serve many parts of the area hourly until 8pm. Buses are fully accessible. Route F4 includes the train station, the conference hotel, the UMW campus, and Eagle Village (site of the overflow hotel). The fare is $1. Exact fare is required.
